Brake Drums
 Problem:
High wear often suffered through poor maintenance.
Solution: The damaged area is pre-machined and then
blasted with Aluminium Oxide to achieve the right surface
profile. An Arcsprayed 101T bond coat is followed by another
Arcsprayed coating of 30E and 60E or 05E and 60E.
Results: The final coating was formulated to provide
both the necessary abrasion resistance for braking grip and
also to provide good heat conductivity to assist cooling of
the drum. The cost of replacement parts was reduced and in
some cases the original drums were not readily available so
replacement was not an option. Cost from $400 to $600 each,
depending on size and thickness. 8 hours turnaround.
