Paper Mill - Calender Roller
Problem: After grinding the roller, a slag inclusion
hole appeared. The manufacturer of the roller said that if
were to be sent back to the USA it may be possible for them
to plug the holes, but they considered it was not practical
to repair.
Solution: The holes were flamesprayed successfully
on-site and the roller ground back to original size.
Results: The roller considered beyond repair was still
in use five years later. The repairs took half a day and cost
$800.00 .
