Power Station - ECNZ
 Problem:
Pelton Buckets - 11 per wheel - showing high wear on internal
surfaces due to particle erosion and line cracking on thinner
areas causing imbalance during operation.
Solution: After blasting all surfaces, the line cracks
were repaired by welding followed by Aluminium Oxide surface
preparation before being Arcsprayed with a coating of 420
Stainless Steel on all internal surfaces. After spraying,
each bucket was balanced to their true position.
Results: Greatly improved running life; low loss at
edge and on shape of bucket; more efficient turbine operation
with constant balanced wheels.
